AFI’s Town Meeting
Friday, November 1
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Renaissance Newark Airport Hotel

FDA notified AFI that it is sending Brian Pendleton, senior policy advisor, FDA Office of the Commissioner, to the AFI Town Meeting. Pendleton will join Domenic Veneziano, director of import operations, FDA Office of Regulatory Affairs, in spelling out the details of new regulations proposed to implement the Food Safety Modernization Act. This means two-fifths of the panel FDA has speak at its public meetings on FSMA will be on hand to listen to your questions, comments, concerns about these new proposals. You won’t get any better value for your money than this.

Captain Domenic J. Veneziano
Director of FDA’s Division of Import Operations and Policy (DIOP)

Under the proposed rules, importers would be accountable for verifying that their foreign suppliers are implementing modern, prevention-oriented food safety practices. Captain Veneziano is leading FDA’s implementation of FSMA’s import provisions. In addition to providing information about the new requirements, he’s looking for input on the most effective ways to implement several FSMA provisions. Don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard!

Also on the Agenda

FSMA Follow-Up / What Can We Do?
Bob Hahn, Olsson Frank Weeda Terman Matz
Get another perspective and hear what your company should be doing to prepare. Hahn will cover activities importers will need to conduct to provide adequate assurances that identified hazards are being adequately controlled. This interactive session will also give importers the floor to provide input on points AFI should raise in its comments on the proposed rules before the law is enacted.

What to Expect When FDA is Inspecting
Shelly Garg, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, P.A.
What can you expect when FDA knocks on your door? What do you have to provide? What should you not provide? What can you tell your foreign suppliers to expect when FDA inspects their facilities? Garg will give you the information you need to ensure you and your suppliers are ready when FDA decides to conduct an inspection.
