“Trending Labeling/Claims Considerations for Food Importers”

In today’s food labeling environment there are regulatory risks and other liability risks. This roundtable will dive into some of the currently trending topics in food labeling, namely Nutrition Facts requirements and class action lawsuit traps. On the regulatory side, FDA has promulgated new requirements for nutrition labeling disclosures, although the compliance date remains uncertain. An important question is whether a company should update its Nutrition Facts panels now or wait. Apart from FDA, there are a number of trends in class action litigation, including, for example, lawsuits involving country of origin marking.
